• How long does it take?
Depending on experience and number of strands used, it will take between 2.5 and 4 hours to do a full head extension with the h.o.t. fusion bonding method.
• How many strands do I need?
150 strands are generally enough for a full head extension. But if you have a lot of hair or would like to give your hair that extra volume you could use up to 200.
• Is there a visible difference between the extensions and my own hair?
The extensions will blend in with your own hair and with a good hair cut they will go unnoticed. But please note that your own hair should be at least 8cm long to cover the bondings.
• Are extensions damaging to my hair?
Extensions don’t damage your own hair if they are carefully applied. The attached strand should never be thicker than the hair strand that holds it. The right care is also important to prevent damage.
• Is the application painful?
No, not if the strands are correctly attached approx. 0.5cm off the scalp.
• How long does it last?
Extensions can last up to 6 months if they are properly cared for. Depending how qickly your hair grows they might have to be taken out and re-attached higher up or otherwise the bondings might become visible. Hair extensions strands can be re-used.
• How do I take them out?
You will need a special bonding remover solution that softens the bondings. The strands can then easily be taken out.
• Can I reuse extension strands?
Yes, various methods are available to rebond them and use again.
• How do I care for my extensions?
Extensions need special care as they, unlike your own hair, don’t get nourishment through hair roots. But avoid hair care products that contain oil or alcohol as both can weaken and damage the bondings and alcohol also makes your extensions dry. The Verlocke! online shop offers a variety of products that were exclusively developed for hair extensions.
• How do I wash my hair?
It’s best to use a specialist shampoo for extensions. Never wash the hair over your head as this might pull too much and could also destroy the bondings. After the wash, squeeze carefully to get rid of excess water – don’t rub.
• How do I dry my hair?
Don’t rub your hair dry with a towel. Instead brush with a special soft brush and let it dry naturally or blow dry with moderate heat.
• Can I colour my extensions?
Yes, you can, but keep the following in mind: colour can generally damage hair; extensions might absorb colour differently from your own hair resulting in different colours; the bondings don’t take on another colour; products that bleach hair could damage the bondings. An experienced hairdresser probably knows best how to colour your extensions.
• Can I perm my extensions?
This is possible but should be done professionally. Generally speaking: hair extensions react in a different way to treatment than your own hair.
• How do I comb my extensions?
Use a special hair extensions brush. Don’t brush while the hair is still fully wet, wait until it is damp. Untangle it with your fingers, then carefully use the brush to untangle the tips. Hold your hair and avoid pulling. The bondings are weaker while wet.
• What do I do when I go to bed?
Tie your hair up to prevent tangling before you go to sleep.
• How do I find the right colour?
The colour scale will help you to find the right colour. But you can also send us a strand of your hair and we will try to match the colour.
• How many colours are there?
You can choose between 25 natural looking colours and 18 crazy highlights.
• What lengths do you offer?
Verlocke! offers extension strands in 40cm (16”), 50cm (20”), 60cm (24”), 70cm (28”), 80cm (32”) and 95cm (38” – wow!)
• What type of hair does Verlocke! use for their extensions?
Verlocke! hair is exclusively remy hair that has been hand selected. The cuticles are closed so that the hair keeps its shine and smooth feeling. The hair goes through a very gentle process and is bonded root to end aligned.
• What are bondings?
A bonding is the top of an extension strand that has been gathered together with h.o.t. fusion (the natural substance your own hair is made of). The h.o.t. fusion is formed like a nail tip to make it easier to attach the extension strand to a strand of your own hair. To attach it you need a heat connector that melts the h.o.t. fusion.
• How long does my own hair have to be?
Your own hair should be at least 8cm long to ensure the invisibility of the bondings.
• Do I have to prepare my hair for hair extensions?
You should wash your hair with a special deep cleansing shampoo. This gets rid of all the deposits of care and styling products that cling to your hair and enables a good grip for the bondings.
